2013 End of Year Student Concert
What was on: This event showcased many of our students and bands covering many styles.

Who played:

·      “Blind Mice”, who cover rockabilly and pop styles featuring Maretta Thomas on lead vocals and guitar, Paul Cairncross on lead guitar, Tim Green on Drums and Mark Hope on bass.

 

·       “The Spanish Surfers”,  a classical guitar quintet featuring Kathryn Warrington, Mark McCall, Steve Bell, Pavle Banovic and Mark Hope.

 

·      “No Direction” a contemporary rock band covering classic rock and blues standards. Chris Shaw on guitar and lead vocals, David Weitkus on rhythm guitar, Laurence Ryan on Bass, David Mennie on Drums and Mark Hope on lead guitar and saxophone.

 

·      “Gabby-Dani-Jim & Josh”, a contemporary band playing R & B, soul, funk and rock songs featuring Gabby Copp on lead vocals and keyboard, Danielle Phelan on lead vocals and guitar, Jim Thomas on Bass, Joshua Cooper-Boone on Drums and Mark Hope on lead guitar.

 

·      “Junior Drummers Relay” featuring some of our fine young drum students Leo Shaw, Julian Hope and Reuben Hope accompanied by teachers Rob Pyefinch, Isaac Rowe and Mark Hope.

 

·      “Teachers Surf Band” featuring Rob Pyefinch and Isaac Rowe on lead guitars, Aidan Arnold on Bass and Tim Green on drums with Mark Hope on Saxophone.

 

Deep Purple Salute Clinic and Student Blues Jam
 

What was on: Students and teachers performed blues and jazz blues songs such as Red House, Green Onions and Hideaway followed by our top musicians and students performing a show featuring Deep Purple’s Greatest Hits.

Who played:

·      Michael Scott and Paul Cairncross played an original jazz blues piece with Linus and Rayle on drums and bass. 

 

·       Calem Walsh and Alex Prendeckij rocked out the Bluesbreakers version of Hideaway.

 

·      Jared Berriman and Alex Prendeckij played the cool blues Green Onions with Getano Bann on Vocals

 

·      Linus, Rayle, Getano, Cameron, Mark, Sebastian and Robert Pyefinch turned up the volume and knocked everyone out with the amazing deep Purple show including famous songs such as Highway Star, Strange Kind of Woman, Black Night and of course, Smoke On The Water.
 
 
 

 

 

Jazz Heads Music Clinic 
 

What was on: 2 hour performance from teachers and students covering swing, latin and funky jazz instrumentals.

 

Who played: Featuring Jack Richardson on Guitar, Linus Monsour on Drums, Chris McKelliget on Flugelhorn, Sam Pankhurst on Bass and Mark Hope on guitar. Playing classic jazz pieces such as “Take the A Train”, “All the Things You Are” and the Freddie Hubbard funk tune “Red Clay” were played as well as the Wes Montgomery classics “Cariba” and “Mr Walker”. Students Michael Scott and Paul Cairncross performed the well known “Blue Bossa”.

We also had a special guest appearances by Rob Pyefinch and Lecia McPhail- Bell on guitar.
